<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an immediate effect of cooling and heating by reducing an air-conditioning load in an air conditioner for a vehicle. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the air conditioner for the vehicle, when an occupant is not seated on a front passenger seat, face blow-out ports 32a, 32b at the front passenger seat side are closed, and face blow-out ports 32c, 32d at a driver's seat side are opened, air in the space at a driver's seat side of a cabin is introduced in an interior air suction port 11 of a blower unit 10 via a foot blow-out port 42b, the inside of a foot separation duct 41, and a by-pass passage 60a with the operation of a blower fan. Therefore, an air temperature introduced into the interior suction port 11 is lowered compared with the case that air in the space at the front passenger seat side is directly sucked from the interior air suction port 11.
