<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily carry out jointing with air tightness being held, in a manufacturing method of a fluorescent lamp in which a glass tube and an exhaust tube are butt melted and welded with an interposition of a lead wire. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The glass tube 1 and the exhaust tube 10 are equipped with edge parts 21 around openings of end parts with apertures made wider than tube diameters, and an edge part of the end of the glass tube and an edge part of the end of the exhaust tube are butted to be heated. Since, with this, the glass becomes softened at heating starting from the edge part 21, and the jointing can be carried out with accuracy with a small heating amount without fear of damaging a shape of the end part, the jointing with excellent airtightness is realized.
