<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device of an inclined passenger conveyor easy in replacing work after operation, and capable of eliminating a malfunction caused by mischief. Ž<P>SOLUTION: There is formed a detecting circuit 16 which is disconnected due to the damage of a detecting body 13 in the detecting body 13 by arranging the detecting body 13 of a separate constitution from the nipping preventive plate at the end of the nipping preventive plate 12 being a front part in lifting operation. Thus, since the safety device 11 is not operated as long as the detecting body 13 is not damaged even if the detecting body 13 is merely pushed, the malfunction can be prevented. A passenger damages the detecting body 13, and gives a warning by applying an impact to a passenger. A closed circuit is opened since the internal detecting circuit 16 is disconnected, and thus, the warning is issued and the operation of the passenger conveyor can be stopped by operating a control device 7.
