<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening and closing mechanism of a console lid and a console box which is a low cost configuration, and can give a balanced assist force during opening and closing operation of the console lid. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The opening and closing mechanism of the console lid 12 has a link arm 14 which is relatively rotatably connected to the console lid 12, and moves along an arc movement trajectory R accompanying with rotation movement of the console lid 12. The link arm 14 biases the console lid 12 in opening and closing directions, and is elastically connected to a box body 11 through a turnover spring Ts for converting the biasing direction while the link arm 14 moves along the movement trajectory R.
