<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the controller of a hybrid car for surely preventing deterioration of engine startability even after ignition is turned off while an engine is cold, that is, even when engine stop is requested when the engine is cold. <P>SOLUTION: The controller of a hybrid car is provided with: an engine whose ignition plug is arranged in a combustion chamber; a chargeable/dischargeable battery; a motor for outputting a driving force to be transmitted to a driving wheel; an engine control means for controlling the operation and stop of the engine according to the operation state of the vehicle; and an engine state decision means for deciding the cold state and warm state of the engine. When it is decided that the engine is put in a cold state, and the engine is stopped by the engine control means, the scavenging of the combustion chamber of the engine is performed.
