PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary lighting system for a car-mounted camera improving reliability by reducing heating of an image pickup means and reducing electric power consumption. SOLUTION: This auxiliary lighting system for the car-mounted camera is furnished with an auxiliary illuminator 2 to cover image pickup illuminance required to take in an image by the car-mounted image pickup means 1 and a picture image processing means to process the image taken in by the image pickup means 1 and it is furnished with an emission control means to make the auxiliary illuminator 2 intermittently emit light in accordance with timing of the image take-in of the image pickup means 1.
