832,569. Batteries. CHLORIDE BATTERIES Ltd. Aug. 11, 1958 [Aug. 22, 1957], No. 26501/57. Class 53. Tubular elements b of an accumulator plate are made of woven, knitted or braided yarns and are provided internally with linings of glass fibre. The tubes and linings are impregnated separately with phenol formaldehyde or other resin before assembly and are cured after assembly to fuse the tubes and linings together. Fig. 6 shows a device for inserting the linings in the tubes. Each lining is made from a glass fibre strip b which is wrapped round a mandrel c and held in place by a removable cap d. The cap is inserted in the tube till it protrudes from the opposite end, the strip b automatically assuming a cylindrical form. The cap is then removed. When all the tubes have been lined they are cured with the mandrels in position so that tubes and linings adhere to one another. The mandrels are then removed. Specifications 821,577 and 826,996 are referred to. |
