A two-part protector (23, 43) for a pipe end which is provided with an external or internal thread, wherein a substantially cylindrical threaded part (14, 40) which is made from plastic covers the thread of the pipe end and a likewise substantially cylindrical sleeve (7, 33) which is made from metal supports the threaded part on the rear side, and wherein the threaded part and the sleeve engage in one another in a latched manner as a result of latching projections (18, 43) and latching cut-outs (2, 31), is configured in terms of a playfree connection between the two parts and in terms of reliable latching between the parts which have very different coefficients of thermal expansion, in such a way that the sleeve (7, 33) is formed integrally with an end edge (8, 38) which lies at the front during the latching process, at least close to the latching cut-outs and near to the threaded part. Toothing systems which are provided to counter rotation of the two parts with respect to one another without loading of the latching and without possibly associated endangering of the connection between the parts assist the security of the connection to a particular extent. |
