The invention relates to a method for purification of water and aqueous-oil emulsions from oil and oil products impurities prior to discharge process aqueous mediums into environment or feed thereof to water recycling and can be used in oil-processing, chemical and food industries, as well as in special-purpose water-treatment complexes. The inventive method is characterized in that first a stream of cleanable water is subjected to a contact with magnetic powder, then the stream is treated with alternating magnetic field resulting in separating the stream into aqueous and hydrophobic phases, and the obtained suspension is further separated into purified water and contaminated magnetic powder. The stream is treated with the alternating magnetic field using an inductor of solenoid type in the range from 10 to 1000 Hz with tension up to 100 KA/m. Any magnetized to saturation powder, e.g barium ferrite, preferably water-repelling barium ferrite can be used as a magnetic powder.
