<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a headlamp device for a vehicle remarkably reduced the lowering of feeling of brightness of a headlamp sensed by a driver, in an energizing control for protecting LEDs. <P>SOLUTION: This device has a first light emitting element for irradiating a long distance in front of a vehicle and a second light emitting element for irradiating the vicinity of the vehicle. The device is provided with: a vehicle speed detection means for detecting vehicle speed; and a control means for controlling supply current to the first light emitting element according to the vehicle speed detected by the vehicle speed detection means and for controlling supply current to the second light emitting element independently from the vehicle speed detected by the vehicle speed detection means. For instance, the control means limits the supply current to the first light emitting element when the detected vehicle speed is less than a prescribed value (30 km/h, for instance).
