PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for rapidly processing discrete Fourier transformation are provided to reduce a time for detecting random access signal by performing the discrete Fourier transformation using the fast Fourier transformation. CONSTITUTION: A zero padding unit receives first input signal with a pre-set length and converts the first input signal into second input signal with a length as much as the square of two. The second input signal is outputted. A fast Fourier transformer(22) performs a fast Fourier transformation with respect to the second input signal. A preamble index determining unit(23) detects an preamble index from the outputted signal from the fast Fourier transformer.
