METHOD FOR PRODUCING EXPANDABLE POLYSTYRENE BEADS WHICH HAVE EXCELLENT FLAMMABLE CAPABILITY

PURPOSE: A manufacturing method of an expandable polystyrene bead including an inorganic flame retardant is provided to minimize the decrease of the mechanical strength of the polystyrene bead including the foaming property. CONSTITUTION: A manufacturing method of an expandable polystyrene bead with the improved fire retardant property comprises the following steps: forming a mixed composition by mixing a styrenic resin and an inorganic flame retardant; obtaining micro pellets capable of suspending by extruding the mixed composition; suspending the micro pellets in water before adding a styrene based monomer and an aromatic hydrocarbon of C6~10 to perform a nucleus polymerization; and impregnating by adding a foaming agent. The inorganic flame retardant includes a metal oxide including aluminum hydroxide or magnesium hydroxide, and an antimony system.
