PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for refining a silicon are provided to refine a high purity metal silicon of 6~7N by processing the low purity metal silicon of 2N to be suitable for a solar cell. CONSTITUTION: A crucible(20) stores a molten metal silicon. A crucible supporter(30) supports the crucible. A heating unit(40) heats a metal silicon stored in the crucible to melt a metal silicon. A local heating unit(50) locally heats the top surface of the molten metal silicon stored in the crucible. A gas supply pipe(60) supplies a material for removing a foreign material of molten metal silicon stored in the crucible.
