854,724. Laminates. FENNER & CO. Ltd., J. H. July 1, 1959 [July 10, 1958], No. 22117/58. Class 140. A drafting apron comprises inner and outer layers of rubber, rubber-like polymers such as butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer, or plasticized polyvinyl chloride, and an intermediate reinforcement of circularly knitted cotton, rayon, nylon or other fabric bonded to both layers. As shown, a tube 12 of rubbery material, formed by extrusion or wrapping material around a mandrel, is mounted on a mandrel 14 and a knitted tubular fabric slipped over it and drawn tight. An outer rubbery tube 16 is then applied over the fabric, by extrusion, wrapping, or, as shown, by fitting one end of the tube over the fabric and expanding the tube to enable it to be slid into place by compressed air supplied through a plug 18. The tubes are then trimmed to length, wrapped in tape, vulcanized, unwrapped, externally ground to size before cutting to length. Specification 740,504 is referred to.
|
