PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling a sound directional radiation pattern are provided to control the sound directional radiation pattern of sound signal which is output through an array speaker by generating a compensating control pattern so that the sound signal obtains a desired pattern. CONSTITUTION: A focusing filter unit(110) processes input signal so that the input signal forms an sound directional radiation pattern. A controlling pattern filter unit stores a plurality of filter values. The filter values correspond to a plurality of controlling patterns for forming a plurality of controlling patterns in which the input signal have already been established. The controlling pattern filter unit(130) processes the input signal using a filter value, which corresponds to one of the controlling patterns. A controller(120) generates a compensating control pattern using a filter value, which corresponds to the filter value of the focusing filter unit and an desired pattern.
