PURPOSE: A light emitting diode and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to protect metal wirings and lighting emitting cells from external impacts by forming an insulating layer which covers the metal wirings and the light emitting cells. CONSTITUTION: A first insulating layer(63) covers light emitting cells(56) which are spaced apart from each other. A plurality of metal wirings(65) is electrically connected to adjacent light emitting cells. A second insulating layer(67) covers the first insulating layer and the wirings. The first insulating layer and the second insulating layer are composed of an identical material. The first insulating layer is relatively thicker than the second insulating layer.
