PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for processing a digital image are provided to extract and store a frame in which the movement of a moving picture is highly changed by verifying the movement of the moving picture between a previous frame and a next frame. CONSTITUTION: A digital signal processor verifies movements for each frame of playing moving pictures. A frame in which the movements are highly changed is extracted and stored. In the extraction process, the digital signal processor stops playing the moving pictures. The digital signal processor includes a movement verifying unit(51) and a frame extracting unit(53). The movement verifying unit verifies a movement between a previous frame and a nest frame.
