PURPOSE: A portable terminal and a method for operating software for the same are provided to reduce the development time of a portable terminal by excluding a modification procedure in which a software source is modified for activating a specific software module. CONSTITUTION: A controller is set up in an idle state(S301). When an input of a key stream is detected, the controller displays a JSR(Java Specification Request) setup menu screen through a display unit(S303,S305). The controller inputs activation or deactivation signals of each JSR according to user selection(S307), and confirms whether or not a setup completion signal is inputted(S309). Then, the controller reboots the portable terminal(S311).
