PURPOSE: A friction stir welding apparatus for a backing plate manufacturing method and a backing plate manufacture are provided to prevent damage to a pin of a tool. CONSTITUTION: The backing plate manufacturing method comprises: a step of forming waterway on the backing plate surface; a step of manufacturing the cover installed on waterway; a step of heat the backing plate; and a step of welding friction stir and the backing plate. The heating temperature of the backing plate is 200~700°C. The heating of the backing plate performs the opposite side of the waterway forming surface of the backing plates. The friction stir welding apparatus for the backing plate manufacture is installed on the bed in which the backing plate is placed.
