PURPOSE: A refrigerator and a control method thereof are provided to offer news information which is in a fixed category according to the time when the refrigerator is used. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator comprises: a receiver(30) which receives news information from an outer server in real time by wired or wireless telecommunication with includes Ethernet or wireless LAN; a storage(33) which stores the news information; a display unit(10) which displays the news information; and a controller(32) which controls the display unit in order to display the news information of a fixed category according to the time when the refrigerator is used by user.
