CAPACITANCE TYPE CONTACT DETECTION DEVICE, DOOR HANDLE, AND SMART ENTRY SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capacitance type contact detection device that prevents erroneous contact detection due to adhesion of raindrops to a door handle and that can accurately detect bare-hand or gloved-hand contact with the door handle.

SOLUTION: The capacitance type contact detection device for detecting the contact of a user with an outdoor door handle of a vehicle is configured so that a sensor electrode installed inside the door handle forms a capacitor in cooperation with a conductor near the sensor electrode. The capacitance type contact detection device includes: capacitance sensors installed respectively in two or more of the door handles; a contact detection part for determining that a user comes in contact with a surface of the door handle if the amount of change in the capacitance of the capacitance sensor becomes a first threshold value or more; and a threshold value changing part for changing the first threshold value if the amount of change in the capacitance of each of the capacitance sensors in at least any two of the door handles becomes a predetermined amount.
