PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent body with a smaller amount of liquid return concerning the absorbent body to be used for an absorbent article such as a disposable diaper and a sanitary pad. SOLUTION: The absorbent body 10 is obtained by laminating one unit (a) onto a base layer 13 which is constituted of the double lamination of the units (a) in which high-absorbent polymers of an amount being equal to or more than 100% with respect to the weight of pulp fiber are dispersed onto pulp fiber layers, or laminating one unit (b), where the particles of the high-absorbent polymer of an amount being less than 100% with respect to the weight of the pulp fiber are dispersed onto the pulp fiber layers. Before absorbing a liquid, gaps exist between particles in the high-absorbent polymer layers, and the fibers of the pulp fiber layers positioned in the upper and lower parts of the high-absorbent polymer layers are entangled through the gaps. After absorbing the liquid, the high-absorbent polymers are swelled, so as to eliminate the gaps between the particles in the high-absorbent polymer layers.
