<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress intersymbol interference even when a transmission rate increases in the transmission of an optical signal by using a laser diode. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A laser diode driving device includes: an MPG 121 generating a modulation current signal (I<SB>M</SB>) according to an input signal; an edge detector (ED) 124 detecting a rise and a fall of the input signal; an REPG 122 generating a rising emphasis pulse signal (I<SB>RE</SB>) according to a pulse signal (V<SB>RE</SB>) based on a rise detection result obtained by the edge detector 124; and an FEPG 123 generating a falling emphasis pulse signal (I<SB>FE</SB>) according to a pulse signal (V<SB>FE</SB>) based on a fall detection result obtained by the edge detector 124. A signal obtained by combining the modulation current signal (I<SB>M</SB>), the rising emphasis pulse signal (I<SB>RE</SB>) and the falling emphasis pulse signal (I<SB>FE</SB>) is supplied as a driving current signal (I<SB>OUT</SB>) to a laser diode 110.
