The adapter (10) has a vehicle chassis, and a mounting opening (12) provided for mounting a backrest of a vehicle seat, where the backrest is mounted in the adapter. The mounting opening is transferred in a vehicle longitudinal direction to another mounting opening (13) of a mounting device (11). An internal contour is adapted to an outer contour of the mounting device. A coupling element is arranged at an inner side and is insertable into the latter mounting opening (13) of the mounting device. The coupling element is fastenable to the adapter by welding and/or sticking and/or riveting.
