摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing control device reducing generation of abnormal noise during operation while axially miniaturizing the device. SOLUTION: A phase conversion mechanism 4 includes: an eccentric control plate 6 provided to a sprocket and synchronously rotated through a housing 5: an eccentric drive plate 24 eccentrically moved through a drive ball 26 with respect to the eccentric control plate by an eccentric cam 25 rotated by an electric motor 12; and a driven plate 29 connected to a camshaft. A hypotrochoid groove 34 is formed in the other surface of the eccentric drive plate, and an epitrochoid groove 31 is formed in the inner surface of the driven plate. Rotation of the electric motor is controlled to a predetermined reduction ratio through a plurality of drive balls 27 sandwiched between both the grooves, thereby converting the relative rotational phases of the timing sprocket 1 and camshaft.
