PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce influence of heat on a fluid seal of a valve device when a treated object heat-treated in a retort is discharged to a storage container. SOLUTION: A rotary retort furnace 10 as a heat treatment device heat-treats the object to be treated in the retort 11 by a heating device 12. Then, an attitude of the retort 11 is changed by an attitude changing means 18 from a horizontal attitude to a vertical attitude, in a state that a shutter device 32 is closed. The object is made to stay in a circulation pipe 27 by the shutter device 32, and then, the shutter device 32 is opened to discharge the object to a sealed container 16.
