摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flying height control method with which flying height of a magnetic head can be controlled with respect to the variation in atmospheric pressure, and to provide a magnetic storage device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method includes: a temperature-obtaining step (S201) for obtaining ambient temperature being temperature of a measured magnetic storage device; a signal value obtaining step (S202) obtaining a signal value which is a value based on the signal of the prescribed frequency read from a magnetic recording medium by a magnetic head; and deciding steps (S203, S204, S205, S206, S208) for deciding the control height for controlling flying height of the magnetic head, on the basis of relation information which is previously generated information and which indicates the correspondence relation between ambient temperature and the signal value under the prescribed atmospheric pressure, with the obtained temperature being the ambient temperature obtained by the temperature obtaining step, and a first signal value being the signal value obtained by signal obtaining step.
