PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing the nitrogen absorption of Cr-containing molten steel, which suppresses a temperature fall of the Cr-containing molten steel that is tapped out from a refining furnace, reduces an amount of slag to be produced, and thereby can prevent the nitrogen absorption from the atmosphere. SOLUTION: This preventing method includes: previously providing a gas-spouting machine 17 that spouts a gas 15 which does not contain nitrogen gas, around a tapping port 14 of a converter 11; and shielding a tapped steel flow 13a of the Cr-containing molten steel 13 which is tapped out to a ladle 12 from the tapping port 14 of the converter 11, by spouting the gas 15 from the gas-spouting machine 17 to prevent the nitrogen absorption from the atmosphere.
