The invention relates to macropolycyclic compounds of the formula (I) where A and B are selected from the TATP, bis-pyridine or pyridine groups. The invention also relates to rare earth element macropolycyclic complexes or cryptates formed using the compounds of the formula (I) and rare earth element salts. The invention can be used for the fluorescent marking of organic or biological molecules.
