<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for making a yeast to efficiently utilize galactose. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This method for making the yeast to utilize the galactose comprises culturing a transformed yeast containing at least one excessively expressing promoter selected from the group consisting of TDH3 promoter, ADH1 promoter, HIS3 promoter, PGK promoter, ENO1 promoter and GAP promoter in the upstream of GAL3 gene on a host chromosome, in an initial culture medium containing glucose and galactose.
