PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical apparatus which optically couples light from a light source to a planar waveguide in a satisfactory level.

SOLUTION: The optical apparatus includes a light transmission system which guides the light from the light source, and the planar waveguide to which the light guided by the light transmission system is coupled. The planar waveguide has a light input unit which is provided at a position where the light guided by the light transmission system enters, and couples the light entering at a predetermined angle to the planar waveguide. The light transmission system includes a first optical element which has first positive power and causes light passing through the vicinity of the focus on the light source side to enter the light input unit at a predetermined angle. The first optical element has a fixed relative position with respect to the planar waveguide.
