PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high strength galvannealed steel sheet having a beautiful appearance free from non-plating and excellent in plating adhesion by using a steel sheet containing one or more elements selected from among Si, Mn, Al, and Cr as a base steel sheet. SOLUTION: The galvannealed steel sheet uses the steel sheet containing one or more elements selected from among Si, Mn, Al, and Cr as a base steel sheet. An oxide is present in the plated layer and on the surface of the base steel sheet. The total amount of the oxide is 0.25 g/m<SP>2</SP>or more. The percentage of the oxide present on the base steel sheet side is 40% or less, by mass, based on the total amount of the oxide.
