PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide display particles capable of displaying an image of a satisfactorily high contrast between an image part and a non-image part, and to provide an image display apparatus provided with the display particles. SOLUTION: The display particles used for the image display apparatus 10 in which the charged display particles are enclosed between two substrates 11, 12, at least one side being transparent, an electric field is generated between the substrates and, thereby, the display particles are moved in a gas phase to display an image includes: two kinds of white color particles A1(22a) and A2(22b) of which the signs of peak values of charging amount are different from each other; and black color particles B1(21), wherein, when the peak value of charging amount of the white color particles A1 is defined as a1(μC/g), the peak value of charging amount of the white color particles A2 is a2(μC/g) and the peak value of charging amount of the black particles B1 is b1(μC/g), a1, a2 and b1 satisfy all of the following relations: 20≤¾a1¾≤30; -1.2≤a1/b1≤-0.8; -0.4≤a2/a1≤-0.2.
