NITRIDING QUENCHING METHOD

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nitriding quenching method for carrying out nitriding quenching on a steel member, by which nitriding quenching can be carried out to a desired depth at a desired site of the steel member while suppressing variation in the nitriding treatment. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The nitriding quenching method comprises: a step of forming a plastic deformation layer by subjecting the surface of the steel member to plastic deformation; and a step of carrying out nitriding quenching by contacting at least the plastic deformation layer to a nitriding gas.
