<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the reduction of primary transferability due to on/off of pre-secondary transfer charging, in a color image forming apparatus in which a plurality of toner images are primarily transferred and superimposed onto an intermediate transfer body and then, secondarily transferred onto a print sheet. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The color image forming apparatus includes: a plurality of photoreceptors; the intermediate transfer body 7 onto which the toner images formed by the respective photoreceptors are sequentially transferred and superimposed; conductive primary transfer rollers 6 to which voltages for transferring the respective toner images onto the intermediate transfer body 7 are applied respectively; a secondary transfer part transferring the toner images superimposed on the intermediate transfer body 7 onto the print sheet; a pre-transfer charging part 80 arranged in a path where the superimposed toner images reach the secondary transfer part and applying a charge to the moved toner images; and a conductive shield member 82 arranged between the pre-secondary transfer charging part 80 and the primary transfer roller 6a nearest to it.
