The present invention relates to a system and a method for providing an IP (Internet Protocol) based service using an EAP (Extensible Authentication Protocol) in a radio communication system. The invention determines the IP service type of a mobile station by negotiating with the mobile station over the IP service type through the authentication which uses the EAP, then provides an IP service corresponding to the determined IP service type.
