<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To go through, without having to show the user a piece of information that is not related to the content under recording. <P>SOLUTION: When CM#2 is attempted to be skipped, because reproduction of the CM#2 is started after watching edition #2 but the CM#2 cannot be skipped because a next chapter is not yet set up later than the present viewing and listening time, reproduction of the program is temporarily stopped and a state of waiting for set up of a chapter is brought about, and the information related to the program under recording is displayed, until the next chapter is set up. As a piece of information related to the program under recording, the image of one frame selected from among the images, constituting the recorded portions of the program, i.e. the editions #1 and #2, is displayed as a still image, for example.
