<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for receiving broadcasting, capable of determining the start or end of summer time without using LTOD (Local Time Offset Descriptor). <P>SOLUTION: In the broadcasting receiving apparatus 10, program information transmitted from a broadcasting station together with a program is received. In the program information, the broadcasting start time and broadcasting time of each program are included. Thus, from the broadcasting start time and the broadcasting time, the broadcasting end time of the program is calculated. When the program information is received in a reception part 11, the broadcasting end time of a preceding program is calculated in a calculation part 17. Then, by a time difference determination part 18, the presence/absence of a time difference between the broadcasting start time of a succeeding program following the preceding program and the broadcasting end time of the preceding program is determined.
