PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining diabetes onset and/or progression risks, and to provide e.g. RNA having RNAi effect on KCNJ15 gene.

SOLUTION: A substance which inhibits the expression of the KCNJ15 gene such as of RNA having RNAi effect on the KCNJ15 gene or inhibits the function of KCNJ15 protein for the purpose of determining diabetes onset and/or progression risks by detecting the allele of the KCNJ15 gene of human genomic DNA is produced.
