<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control system capable of surely performing significant communication, such as a change in an operation mode of a device in a configuration in which a control device and a device to be controlled perform mutually serial communication to perform processing. <P>SOLUTION: When a MCU (Micro Controller Unit) 1 is in a normal mode, the MCU 1 transmits control information to an ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) 2 by serial communication. The ASIC 2 operates in a subordinate mode, samples an input signal in accordance with the control information from the MCU 1, and transmits a sampled value to the MCU 1 by serial communication. The MCU 1 switches a high level/low level of a switching signal when shifting from the normal mode to a sleep mode. Consequently, the ASIC 2 shifts from the subordinate mode to an independent mode, and notifies the MCU 1 of a change in the input signal by an interrupt signal when detecting the change.
