<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve measurement accuracy, in a following distance detection device using an ultrasonic wave. <P>SOLUTION: This device includes: an ultrasonic transmitter/receiver 10 installed on the front part of one's own vehicle 200, for transmitting an ultrasonic wave S to a preceding vehicle 300, and receiving an ultrasonic wave S' reflected by the preceding vehicle 300 and returned therefrom; and a distance calculation device 20 including a clocking means 30 for clocking an elapsed timeΔT after transmitting the ultrasonic wave S from the ultrasonic transmitter/receiver 10 until receiving the ultrasonic wave S' as a reflected wave, and a distance operation part 50 for calculating the following distance L from the preceding vehicle 300 based on the elapsed timeΔT. The distance calculation device 20 also includes a noise signal removal means 40 for removing a noise component (S2') reflected and received from a road surface (500) in the ultrasonic wave S' received as the reflected wave, and the distance operation part 50 calculates the following distance L based on the elapsed timeΔT relative to the ultrasonic wave S' after removing the noise component therefrom by the noise signal removal means 40. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
