PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-coated cutting tool having a coating film with both MoN characteristics and CrAlN characteristics and, in particular, a superior wear resistance. SOLUTION: This surface-coated cutting tool is provided with: a substrate; and the coating film formed thereon. The coating film is formed by alternately laminating two or more of each of the solid solution of Mo and N expressed by MoNy (where y in the expression is 0.01≤y≤0.2), a layer A formed of Mo<SB>2</SB>N, MoN, or the mixture thereof, and a layer B formed of Cr<SB>1</SB>-xAl<SB>x</SB>N (where x in the expression is 0.3≤x≤0.8). The thicknessλa of the layer A and the thicknessλb of the layer B are 2 nm to 1,000 nm. The thickness ratioλa/λb is increased from the substrate side to the outermost surface side of the coating film. The thickness ratioλa/λb of the layers A and B nearest the substrate is 0.1-0.7, and that nearest the outermost surface is 1.5-10. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
