METHOD OF MANUFACTURING OLEFIN OXIDE FROM OLEFIN AND ORGANIC HYDROPEROXIDE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method for manufacturing propylene oxide from propylene and ethylbenzene hydroperoxide. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing propylene oxide comprises contacting propylene and ethylbenzene hydroperoxide in a liquid phase in the presence of a uniform molybdenum epoxidation catalyst under a sufficient process condition for manufacturing propylene oxide and co-producedα-ethylphenyl alcohol, (i) in a reactor system containing a unit reactor combined with a cooling measure which is divided into plurality of consecutively and mutually connected reaction zones which are designed to facilitate plug flow behavior, (ii) or in a multi-reactor system containing a plurality of consecutively and mutually connected reactors (which is divided into a plurality of consecutively and mutually connected reaction zones which are designed to facilitate plug flow behavior and to each reactor in the multi-reactor system a cooling measure is combined).
