PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outdoor unit for a heat pump type air conditioner including a main control circuit for controlling a drive source and a refrigerant and a communication circuit for performing communications with an indoor unit or the other outdoor unit and capable of improving resistance of the main control circuit or the communication circuit with respect to external noise. SOLUTION: The outdoor unit includes: a main microcomputer 71 for controlling a gas engine and a refrigerant; a communication microcomputer 72 for performing communications between the outdoor unit and the indoor unit or the other outdoor unit; photocouplers 74, 75 connected to the main microcomputer 71 and the communication microcomputer 72 and transmitting a signal between the main microcomputer 71 and the communication microcomputer 72 in the electrically insulated state; a main control power source 66 for supplying D.C. voltage obtained by A.C./D.C. conversion of an A.C. commercial power source to the main microcomputer 71 in the electrically insulated state; and a communication power source 67 for supplying D.C. voltage obtained by A.C./D.C. conversion of the A.C. commercial power source to the communication microcomputer 72 in the electrically insulated state.
