<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optimum image corresponding to a situation by individually adjusting peak luminance and power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: A display device includes: a setting condition acquisition part 108 for acquiring various conditions to adjust the gain of an image signal; a current/luminance table calculation part 112 for calculating a table showing relation between average-luminance and gain of the image signal on the basis of the various conditions acquired by the setting condition acquisition part 108, and then, calculating a table in which the peak luminance of the image signal and the power consumption can be independently set; a video/average-luminance conversion block 106 for calculating the average luminance of the input image signal for each of frames; a current/luminance control table 110 for calculating the gain of the video signal from the table on the basis of the average luminance calculated by the current/luminance table calculation part 112; a video gain block 104 for adjusting the video signal by using the gain calculated by the current/luminance control table 110; and a display panel 300 where a plurality of pixels that are self-luminous in accordance with the image signal are arranged, and the video is displayed on the basis of the image signal adjusted by the video gain block 104. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
