<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel battery, provided with an electrode body equipped with a protection film positioned between a gas diffusion layer and an electrolyte film in a fringe area of catalyst layer, capable of effectively deterring generation of cracks on the electrolyte film etc., caused by compressive force activated especially from catalyst layer side end portions of the protection films on a cathode side and an anode side. <P>SOLUTION: In the fuel battery made by laminating fuel battery cells each equipped with the electrode 10 consisting of a membrane electrode assembly 4 and gas transmission layers (the gas diffusion layers 5, 6), the protection films 7A, 7B are arranged at least between an exposed fringe area where the electrolyte film 1 is not covered with the catalyst layers 2, 3 and the gas diffusion layers 5, 6. End faces of the protection films 7A, 7B countering the catalyst layers 2, 3 are arranged in an concavo-convex form with smooth curvature. Also, convex regions towards the catalyst layers Y1, Y2 are laminated on the catalyst layers 2, 3, and in each of the protection films 7A, 7B, each convex region Y1, Y2 is arranged to be shifted from the other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
