<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aqueous dispersion for thermal-type ink-jet printing use having excellent jetting performance, to provide the aqueous dispersion, and to provide an aqueous ink including the aqueous dispersion. <P>SOLUTION: [1] The method for producing the aqueous dispersion for thermal ink-jet printing use includes: the step (1) of obtaining a dispersion by dispersion treatment of a mixture of water, a pigment, anionic group-bearing polymer, volatile base, nonvolatile base, organic solvent, wherein the total neutralization degree of the neutralization degree of the anionic groups stemmed from the volatile base and that stemmed from the nonvolatile base is 210-500% and the molar ratio (the volatile base/nonvolatile base) is greater than 1; and the step (2) of obtaining the aqueous dispersion of polymeric particles containing the pigment by removing the volatile base and the organic solvent from the resultant dispersion obtained from the step (1).
