<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron which enables a gripping section arranged above a handle to be arranged at a position closer to a base, keeps a wide degree of freedom in the shape, the material and the position of the gripping section, improves the usability, and at the same time, shows a rich design property. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This iron includes the base 2 which is heated by a heater 1, a base cover 3 which is arranged above the base 2, the handle 4 which is arranged above the base cover 3, and the gripping section 5 which is arranged above the handle 4. The gripping section 5 is constituted of a plurality of parts, and the gripping section 5 which is arranged above the handle 4 can be arranged at the position closer to the base 2. Therefore, the degree of freedom in the shape, the material and the position of the gripping section 5 is widened.
