<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser device suppressing generation of optical damages (COD), and a method of manufacturing the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This semiconductor laser device includes a first end face 8 forming a light emitting end face and a second end face 9 on the side opposite to the first end face 8. On at least one end face out of the first end face 8 and the second end face 9, a nitride film 10, a separation film 11 containing no oxygen and no nitrogen and comprising a semiconductor or an insulator, and a low reflecting film 12 (high reflecting film 13) are formed one by one from the end face side.
