PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data transfer device that minimizes the total time of predicted compression time and predicted transfer time. SOLUTION: The data transfer device includes: a means for calculating the predicted compression time of data for each compression level; a means for calculating the predicted transfer time from a predicted size, after the compression of the data to be transferred for each compression level; a means for comparing the predicted compression time with the predicted transfer time of the data, before for each compression level, and turning the predicted compression time of the data to be transferred to the predicted transfer time of the data one before, when the predicted transfer time of the data before is longer than the predicted compression time of the data to be transferred; a means for determining the compression level at which the predicted time for which the predicted compression time and the predicted transfer time of the data to be transferred are added for each compression level is the shortest; a means for compressing the data at the determined compression level; and a transfer means for transferring the data to a transfer destination.
